Isa Mundo Foundation will be supporting an event to raise funds and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Although the issue does not fit within our one of three themes, we wanted to begin supporting local projects and events in our communities in 2012.
CF is the most common, fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults. This multi-organ disease affects one in every 25 people in Canada - well over one million Canadians. Cinema for a Cure will have a double-feature film that will be shown on May 5th, 2012, at Denman Cinema in Vancouver’s West End. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

Sharing Success Forum
In the past few years, we have met many passionate people and organizations who have completed life changing projects in both local and global communities. Each of them bring different stories of challenges and success that have provided us with valuable tools and knowledge that have helped to complete our own projects.
In the past few months, we have been in discussion with other organizations on having a gathering that would take place weekly/monthly and allow us to bring together new ideas and share our network with each other.
This month, we developed an informal Sharing Success Forum that takes place weekly at a local coffee shop in Vancouver and attended by a few people with experience in project management locally and internationally. We would like this forum to expand into a larger and more formal setting in the coming years. It is our hope that we can continue to discuss how to turn new ideas into concrete projects through networking and partnerships.
We invite others to join us, the more the better!

Isa Mundo Photobook
Since the initial visit to Mexico in 2005 and the official launch of the Isa Mundo Foundation in 2006 - our small team and past volunteers have visited some of the most beautiful places in the world. During these travels, we experienced various cultures, enjoyed diversed landscapes, tasted local cuisines and met happy, friendly and passionate people.
During these travels, we were also exposed to the hardship that many children, families and communities face everyday in the developing world. Our site visits to these communities are what motivate us to find ways to help and provide support to the best of our abilities.
Our first Photobook captures the first 6 years of our work and shows cultures, landscapes, communities, organizations and our all projects both past and present. With the continued help of our funders, supporters and volunteers, we hope to complete Volume 2 in 2017.

Support a Teacher
Isa Mundo Foundation is committed to supporting basic primary education in communities by providing school supplies, technological tools and educational books. In addition to these crucial resources, one of of the most important needs in communities, that are sometimes overlooked, are funds to pay teachers.
We are asking all our supporters to donate to Isa Mundo to fund the full-time or part-time salaries of teachers. Teachers in communities we work with are passionate about their work and they serve as tutors, mentors, and role models. Despite the low pay and long hours, they remain dedicated to find new programs and activities to motivate students to reach their full potential.

Isa Mundo Website
The Isa Mundo Foundation website will have a fresh new look in coming months. In late 2011, we finalized a newly designed look and feel and are now in the process of finalizing contents. We will be adding new features such as: news articles and stories relevant to our project themes and focus; promoting ideas for new initiatives and projects; and the launch of Mundopedia.
Mundopedia is a page that will highlight where we have been, why we are there and map our progress to date. It will include vital statistics relevant to our mission such as: literacy rates, education attainment; child and youth homelessness; focus on conservation and sustainability and health issues.
We hope the new website will be more user friendly and contain all the information regarding the foundation and all its past and current projects.

Isa Mundo in 2012
Happy New Year!!
Although we were launched in 2006, this is the start of Isa Mundo Foundation's 6th full year in operation. When we reflect back to what we have accomplished together, communities we have visited, projects we have completed, volunteers we have met and partnerships we have formed - it has truly been a great success. We owe it all to friends, families, businesses, communities and other organizations, who believe and support our work.
In 2012, we hope to launch and complete a few projects. Along the way, we will update you on our progress, challenges and hopefully lots of success stories. We are eager to keep expanding our IMEC concept in Peru, begin discussion on a new Social Skills Program under our Children and Youth projects, begin conservation and environmental health projects in Mexico, forge partnerships with new organizations in British Columbia, and continually support our existing projects. It will require a lot of effort to accomplish all these goals but we are looking forward to the challenge.
It will be a very busy 2012 and we are excited to continue Isa Mundo's committment to better the lives of those less fortunate in the world.
